AELCLÉS: SPANISH NETWORK OF ENTITIES AGAINST LEUKEMIA AND BLOOD DISEASES

AELCLÉS is a non-profit organisation that was created in 2009 from the combined efforts of a group of associations with the aim of helping patients affected by oncohaematological diseases and their families to restore their health. Accompanying them throughout the disease process to improve their quality of life: before, during and after the different treatments.

As an association, we represent all haematological patients before society and public institutions in order to demand greater awareness of these patients and to promote their quality of care and improve their quality of life. In addition to making leukaemia and other haematological diseases more visible and raising public awareness of the importance of donating blood, bone marrow and umbilical cord blood.

We place special emphasis on supporting research.

The sum of our goals has led us, today, to form a solidarity group of associations that make up a coordinated network throughout Spain.

These aims are:

  • To promote the fight against haematological diseases (excluding hepatitis and AIDS).

  • To promote comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for haematological patients and support for their families.

  • To promote specialised and continuing education in the field of haematology.

  • To promote and support research in the field of haematopathies.

  • To disseminate the clinical and therapeutic characteristics of these diseases.

  • Promote bone marrow and umbilical cord donation.

  • Promote blood donation.

  • To inform and raise awareness among politicians, the media, health and education professionals and society in general about the problems of patients with haematological diseases and their families.

  • To defend and promote the rights of haematological patients and their families.

  • To promote the quality of care and the improvement of care structures.

  • To stimulate dialogue between the entities that make up the Association, encouraging and organising the exchange of information and experiences between them.

  • Promote and enhance the prevention of haematological diseases.

  • Encourage aid for organisations that fight against these diseases, collaborating in the support of patients and their families.

  • To promote the adoption of means aimed at rehabilitation and to avoid social and work isolation of those affected and their families.

  • To promote the improvement of the quality of life of those affected and their families.
